Woodberry Climbing Team goes head to head with St. Alban's

The climbing team competed in its second meet of the season Tuesday, December 13. The team worked hard last week on improving technique and sequence. Their hard work paid dividends Tuesday. Even through some bleary eyes and tired muscles, the boys produced some impressive results. We are still waiting to hear back with St. Alban's competition results. Our climbers' scores are listed below.

Trice looks for a good foot placement on this 5.11

Ian slowly dances up a slabby 5.11

Ian works this acrobatic 5.10

Jason works a 5.12 with too many crimpers

Climbing Team Kicks Off 2011-12 Season

We have had a great few weeks of climbing this season. The team is starting to grasp the level of fitness, mental toughness, and technique required to climb, and they are responding well to the challenges put before them. Led by seniors Teddy Corwin, Jason Hill, and Ian McDowell, the team of ten has improved greatly. It promises to be an exciting season. We encourage you to follow the Washington Area Interscholastic League website for league information, competition dates, and scores.

We performed far better than we expected in our first meet on December 6 at Earth Treks in Rockville, MD, placing second in both men's Varsity and Junior Varsity competitions. Details on meet format and scoring are available at the Washington Area Interscholastic League website.

Meet Results: 12/6/11 at EarthTreks - Rockville
