Varsity Climbing wins against EHS and Georgetown Day

The Woodberry Forest School Varsity and JV climbers headed up to Sport Rock Sterling on Tuesday for a bouldering competition against Episcopal High School and Georgetown Day School.  The Tigers climbed hard and put up a lot of personal bests.  Climbers of note were Joel Ndumbalo ’15 and Ryan Tilgner ’16 who were the top two point earners for the entire comp.  Novice climber Connor Janney ’14 also had a stand out performance as the top JV climber for WFS.   Stay tuned as the team heads up to Sport Rock Alexandria for another bouldering comp next Tuesday!

IV Form Expedition Video Recap

IV Form Expedition from Nolan LaVoie on Vimeo.
Well the IV Form Expedition has come and gone.  The trip was amazing with the boys having fun, being challenged and coming together as a form.  It was such a pleasure to get to hang out with the guys over the course of the four days.  Special thanks to Mr. Budlong and Mr. Monahan for their support of the trip and the boys.  This is a truly unique and special experience!

Guys having a good time on day 1

Group H sets up camp.

I was lucky enough to stumble across group H as they were setting up camp.  Word is they had a blast canoeing this afternoon with only one guy falling in the water!  We will call that a success.  After they set up their own tents their instructors will start teaching them how to make a backwoods dinner. Good stuff!

Making sure that the rain fly is pitched tight!
Pine straw will help soften the bed!
Some WFS boys super excited to get their tents up so they can eat dinner

Still a bit more work to be done
Two happy campers
