OE program does some rock climbing training
Faculty in the outdoor education program at Woodberry Forest went out and did some rock climbing training over the last couple of days. During our time we focused on learning how to build anchors used in top rope climbing and how to effectively manage a top rope climbing site. We were lucky to have a couple of beautiful days for the training!

Woodberry faculty take part in swift water rescue course
Woodberry's outdoor education program is hosting Landmark Learning out of North Carolina for a two day swift water rescue course. Taught by industry leader Justin Padgett swift water rescue is the industry standard in learning river rescues and safety management in moving water. The curriculum is developed by the American Canoe Association and requires 16 hours of instruction culminating in a mock scenario. Huge kudos go out to the members of the WFS faculty who are willing to spend a couple days of the their summer learning these valuable skills.
